Dawson Creek/Chetwynd Area Transmission
As the south peace region of B.C. grows the need for power services to the area grows with it. Our job was to test and commission all communications, protection and control systems (CPC) for two new 230kV substations and upgrade CPC systems from 138kV to 230kV in three existing stations for the Dawson Creek and Chetwynd Area Transmission also known as DCAT.
According to BC Hydro annual load growth on the south Peace and Dawson Creek area is expected to be 10 times that of the rest of BC. This dramatic increase can be attributed to the growing natural gas industry throughout the region and province.
The communications, protection, and control systems for DCAT were tested and commissioned in 2015 through early 2016.
